Testing for glucose and starch
- You can test for starch by adding iodine solution to the substance, which will turn blue-black if starch is present.
- You can test for glucose by dissolving it in water in a test tube, and then adding Benedict’s solution until the solution is blue.
- Then place the test tube in a water bath and heat from below. If glucose is present, the mixture should turn yellow, and a brick red precipitate forms.
