Osmosis in Animal Cells
Osmosis in Animal cells
Animal
cells in a hypertonic solution
- Higher
water
potential inside of the cells.
- Water leaves the cells via osmosis.
- The cell becomes shrunken or crenate.
Animal
cells in a hypotonic solution
- Lower
water potential inside of the cells
- Water enters the cells via osmosis
- The cell becomes swollen and can eventually burst
- They burst because unlike a plant cell they don’t have a cell wall.
