Why Did Soviet Union Expand?

Why Did Soviet Union Expand?

  • Soviet Union had a bad memory of WW1 in which Soviet Union suffered the most. As a result Soviet Union had various policies with other countries.
  • Stalin worked with Churchill to come up with the percentage deal in which many Eastern European countries were shared between them.
  • Soviet Union also expanded because they wanted a buffer zone in case there was another world war.
  • They wanted to move the Polish border so that more of Poland becomes part of USSR
  • Also he wanted a communist or soviet-friendly government in Poland
